"The Innovator's Dilemma"

— Professor Clayton M. Christensen, author of The Innovator’s Dilemma, recalls his response to a Harvard Business School dean who expressed concern that Christensen’s participation in a video lecture series produced by the University of Phoenix would harm his “brand.”



This anecdote comes from a profile of Christensen in the May 14 issue of the New Yorker.

In it, he describes his surprise that the University of Phoenix might show his recorded lecture to 170,000 students. “Harvard [is] one of the bigger business schools in America, and we bring in 900 [students] a year,” he notes, marveling at the scale of the former.
