That’s the restroom wall at design consultancy IDEO. It represents an easily-replicable collaboration strategy that caught our eyes — and, yeah, made us laugh a little too.
“IDEO encourages its employees to find inspiration by brainstorming ideas on the walls of its studios’ restrooms. Colleagues can build on the ideas of others in a light-hearted and playful way,” IDEO spokesperson Nadia Walker tells Build.
Walker adds that most of the company’s restrooms are not equipped with a chalkboard. Those restrooms are instead stocked with Post-It notes, which she says accomplish the same goal.
(Worry not about those who’d prefer to keep that time to themselves; IDEO still stocks magazines.)
This strategy actually fits well within the confines of recent brainstorming theory. As we've written previously, "the most revolutionary solutions spring from group discussion of ideas hatched in isolation."
